| Description: | This thesis presents sets of computer solution curves for use in designing spatial function generating linkages. Two spatial linkages are studied: the four-revolute spherical mechanism and the R-S-S-R mechanism. The solution curves for the spherical mechanism also provide a means of approximating transmission angles. The linkages are designed by matching a plot of the desired function with curves derived from computer solutions of the displacement equation relating input and output angles. The set of curves presented here is large enough for practical use. Example applications are presented. |
